A rear-end collision involving several trucks resulted in a total closure in the Kufstein area towards Germany since early in the morning. According to information from the Asfinag route service, several vehicles are likely involved. The clean-up work is expected to take several hours.
Shortly after 7 a.m., a serious rear-end collision involving several heavy vehicles occurred shortly before the Kufstein-Kiefersfelden border crossing. “According to initial information, three trucks are involved; currently there is a total closure of the Inntal highway towards Germany,” says Asfinag.
According to the route service’s assessment, at least two of the trucks are no longer roadworthy, meaning heavy recovery cranes and tow trucks will be needed to recover the vehicles. “This means that the clean-up work in this area will likely last several hours,” Asfinag continued.
Wait for trucks, cars may give way
Cars currently have the option to use the Kufstein-Nord interchange. Trucks must wait until further notice for the duration of the closure.
