The traffic light government in Germany, consisting of the SPD, FDP and the Greens, is descending into chaos. Nevertheless, Green Club leader Sigi Maurer signaled her willingness to tackle the three-party coalition, which is difficult to implement in terms of real politics, also in Austria. After the recent rapprochement between the ÖVP and SPÖ and the poor polls, the two former major parties have to look for a junior partner. At least at the moment there seems to be a preference.
It can be seen as a small charm offensive that the Green club leader Sigi Maurer showed in a conversation with Rainer Nowak just before the Green Federal Congress that she could imagine a coalition with the ÖVP and the SPÖ. But is it likely that the Greens are involved or do the NEOS have a better chance of making good on their always-stated design claim in federal politics? The “Krone” asked around.
