The UPN councilor, Aitor Silgado, did not vote in favor, as his three party colleagues did. The regionalist party tried to lower the tone of the statement with an amendment that was not accepted.
The Pamplona City Council on Tuesday condemned the attack suffered by the President of Navarra, María Chivite, in Cabanillas during a farmers’ protest, with the support of UPN and PP, in contrast to what happened in parliament on Monday, where both parties They didn’t want to talk about aggression, but about arguments.
The text, presented by the PSN in the presidential commission, has received the support of all groups, except the abstention of a UPN councilor. Aitor Silgadowho did not vote in favor, as his three party members did.
The statement rejects and condemns the aggression suffered by the president of the Foral community, María Chivite, last Friday in Cabanillas, also rejects the undemocratic behavior of the perpetrators of the aggression and those who support them, and reiterates the necessary respect for the democratic state. , their institutions and those who represent them, and reaffirm their full support and full recognition for the work of the Foral Police.
UPN tried to lower the tone of the statement with an amendment that was not accepted, but ultimately voted in favor, although it has received criticism from the rest of the groups. In this way, the regionalist and popular councilors voted in a different direction than was shown this Monday by the leaders of both parties, who did not want to talk about aggression.
The UPN councilor spokesperson in the committee, Javier Labairuexplained that “what happened in Cabanillas are reprehensible acts of violence, violence can never be justified.”
The PP councilor, Carlos Garcia Adanerohas been blunt in its condemnation: “You can be light years away from what Chivite is doing, but you can’t look the other way when an attack is happening. It is unbearable that the president of the government is being attacked in this way.”
The remaining groups condemned the attack, as they did at the Foral Chamber’s Council of Spokespeople on Monday.
What happened in the Pamplona City Council is the opposite of what was approved in the City Council Tudelawhere the motion of the PSN that spoke of aggression against María Chivite was rejected and the motion that spoke of altercations was approved, so the Consistory led by the regionalist Alejandro Toquero has followed the line set this Monday by the president of his party , Javier Esparza.
On the other hand, UPN has, through a statement, “flatly” denied having encouraged or supported the actions that have taken place these days against the President of the Government, María Chivite, in various parts of Navarre, as noted on Monday by the spokesperson of the Socialist Party, Ramón Alzórriz.
