Next big splash in the green drama surrounding EU top candidate Lena Schilling. Although they had already reached a settlement in court and Schilling had signed a cease and desist letter, a controversial activist couple is now filing a civil lawsuit against the 23-year-old.
These were extremely personal statements, the public announcement of which by some media had put pressure on Lena Schilling. In concrete terms, it concerned a statement from Schilling about the couple Sebastian and Veronika Bohrn Mena.
Bohrn Menas has filed a lawsuit for the first time
A legal dispute arose and a settlement was reached. Schilling signed a cease and desist order. But now, for the first time, the Bohrn Menas have filed a lawsuit – under civil law.
As the Ö1 “Mittagsjournal” reports, they want the Green Party’s top candidate to retract her statements and apologize. The statement of claim has already been served on Schilling’s lawyer, but the first lawsuit is not scheduled until after the EU elections.
Under constant fire
23-year-old Lena Schilling has been under constant fire for days because, at least according to ‘Standard’ research, she spreads untruths and is therefore not eligible to be a top candidate for the EU. Recently, new accusations have been published and all kinds of private feuds have been made public – for example, she allegedly testified to domestic violence against a top politician (a competitor).
“Organized campaign”
As is known, a small “Schilling Special Committee” was established in the “Standard” to create their “psychogram” with 50 people from Schilling’s environment. One can only speculate about the background. In any case, the Greens see this as an ‘organized campaign’. According to club boss Sigrid Maurer (reportedly disparaged by Schilling himself), this was aimed directly at young women.
Van der Bellen: ‘Leave your private life out of it’
On Tuesday, Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, once a federal spokesperson for the Green Party, also commented on the allegations against Schilling – although he did so cautiously.
He said in an Ö1 interview that if a young person doesn’t make mistakes, he should have made one in the first place. In any case, he certainly made some. Van der Bellen was able to avoid dragging his private life into election campaigns: “Politics is one thing and private life is another.”
