The EU parliament member and second on the list for the EU elections Thomas Waitz defended Lena Schilling on Sunday. He said he had no reason to doubt their credibility. The collaboration with the top candidate was ‘excellent’.
Since Schilling decided to run for office, she has been ‘actively on the move’. He declined to comment on whether the private statements would lead to a loss of confidence among voters. He prefers to talk about Europe and the climate, Thomas Waitz said on Sunday in the ORF program ‘Hohes Haus’.
Top candidate too young?
In any case, the Greens’ crisis management has not been optimal so far, and we will have to learn from that. “If you promote a young candidate, a candidate who is too young, then you also have the task of managing such a crisis differently,” said former EU MP Johannes Voggenhuber.
Waitz, who is also co-chair of the European Greens, noted that a party would be chosen and preferential votes could be awarded. He offered himself as a future head of delegation for the European Greens, because he brings experience and networks.
