Turn before the election of Vienna – Return of the Minister of Education officially withdraws

On 22 February at a general meeting of Viennese Pinks, re-voted the top candidate for the Vienna election-Zul on the day on which ÖVP, Spö and Neos had agreed to a triple coalition in the second attempt. Shortly thereafter he was sworn as Minister of Education.

The Neo -Minister of Education, who pretended to be his work as a top candidate at the beginning of March and, as party leader of the Vienna Neos for Vienna, wanted to “naturally consider” completely “to recover again in the weekend, although he did not strive for a position in urban politics. As a minister he feels “responsible for all schools in Austria”.

Neos denies the deception of voter
“In life it is often different from what you think of the schedule,” defended this constellation back. He rejected the statement of the voter’s deception before his withdrawal announced. “I say very honestly and openly that I will not strive for a position in Vienna, but will of course also work for the Viennese schools as minister.” In any case, the Neos were always more than a person.

The exemption from a list position is still legally possible: according to the office of the responsible city council Jürgen Czernohorszky (Spö), the deadline for introducing election proposals has already expired, but you can also be removed from a list until tomorrow.

Arapovic goes to the Neos
The new top candidate is now Selma Arapovic, who has now also taken over the office of Pink Club Chief in the town hall. In this position she followed Bettina Emmerling, who became an educational councilor after the departure of return.

However, a complete withdrawal from local politics is not in the program: in any case, the Neos politician will remain the leader of the Stadspartij and also lead any coalition negotiations, returned to the edge of a press conference in the afternoon.

As a municipal councilor of education, Return had repeatedly had a public Hickhack in recent months with his predecessor Martin Polaschek (ÖVP) because, according to him, the federal capital has not received enough money for children with German support. “Now there is a chance that the federal government and Vienna will finally take on the enormous challenges available in the field of education.”
