Summary of the most important news that eitb.eus will publish today.
These are the topics that will be central main headlines from this Thursday, May 30, 2024:
– Amnesty Act: The amnesty law faces the final parliamentary vote in the plenary session of Congress, in which an absolute majority (at least 176 deputies) is needed to override the Senate’s veto. If there are no surprises, the rule could appear in the Government Gazette (BOE) on Friday or Saturday before it goes into effect. The plenary session starts at 9 a.m., in a monographic session in which the group spokespersons have seven minutes to intervene, from smallest to largest.
– Advance CPI for May: The National Statistical Institute (INE) today publishes the progress of the consumer price index (CPI) for the month of May. In April, inflation rose to 3.3% year-on-year due to increases in gas and food prices. On the other hand, core inflation (overall index excluding unprocessed food and energy products) was 2.9% annualized in April, four-tenths lower than the previous month and below the headline level for the first time since November 2022.
– Absentee voting: Today is the deadline to request a postal vote for the European elections on June 9. Voters who choose this system can apply for it at any post office or online through the website www.correos.es, with an electronic DNI certificate or a valid digital certificate. The deadline for submitting votes ends on June 6. It can be deposited at any post office in Spain during normal business hours.
