The Secretary of State for Communications, Francesc Vallès, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of the Interior, Susana Crisóstomo, presented the election manifesto this afternoon at the Ifema in Madrid, from where all the day’s data on the Spanish state will be released.
Everything is already prepared in the National Diffusion Center to face the 9Y election day. From this center, installed in Pavilion 12 of Ifema in Madrid, all data and information about the election day in the Spanish state will be published during the election day.

A total of 38,087,379 citizens in the Spanish state are called to the pollsto choose the 61 MEPs which match Spain in the European Parliament, two more than in the last elections.
The 22,576 polling stations will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with 58,556 polling stations, 70,000 ballot boxes and 59,000 polling booths, so that citizens can vote.

Final participation data, as well as results, will be provided from 11pm on Sunday, when polling stations close in Italy, the last country to close polls.
According to Crisóstomo, 582,097 people have already voted by mail. This figure is double that of 2014, the last time the European elections did not coincide with regional and municipal elections, as happened five years ago.
In 2014, participation was 43.81%, the lowest in historical series in Spain, while in the subsequent elections it was 60.73%, the third highest since 1987, when the citizens of the Spanish state entered the European Union for the first time. Parliament voted.

The Secretary of State for Communications, Francesc Vallés, on behalf of the Spanish government, appealed on Saturday to citizens to cast their vote in the European Parliament elections.
“Democracy is also based on participation. The more participation, the more democracy. And it’s clear that there are many reasons to vote in this election. We hope that Spaniards are aware of the magnitude and importance of these elections and exercise their constitutional rights. the right to vote all day,” Vallés encouraged.
