Bizarre result – Green and blue voters next to each other in favorites

Date:

In addition to the Freedom Party’s victory, the EU elections also revealed other, sometimes bizarre results. Blue and Green voters live next to each other in the Viktor Adler Market, where the FPÖ likes to hold its election campaign celebrations. The SPÖ sees itself surrounded by FPÖ-dominated districts, especially in its former strongholds…

THE blue stronghold of the weekend was far in the west of Austria, namely in Spiss in Tyrol. Nowhere else has the FPÖ performed better. The Blues achieved 70 percent – an increase of 60 percentage points.

Of all places, the Viktor Adler market in Vienna-Favoriten, where the FPÖ traditionally holds its election campaign, had to concede defeat to the Greens.

The blues weakens in the cities
In the big cities, the Blues usually had to give up – where people are actually most confronted with the PVV’s favorite topic, namely the migration problem.

The FPÖ in Vienna achieved only an increase of 4.2 percentage points with 18.6 percent. Although strong in individual outlying districts, especially in Simmering with 31.2 percent, the Freedom Party has little to say within the belt. In districts six to nine it only reached fifth place, as well as in the first, third, fourth and in the more middle-class districts 13, 17, 18 and 19. That is eleven of Vienna’s 23 districts.

Overall, Austria’s second-largest city, Graz, still lagged behind Vienna’s showing, where only 17.3 percent warmed up to the Freedom Party.

Vienna remains a red bastion – but with accents of colour
The SPÖ could continue to hold its own in the big cities. Vienna still remains the red bastion, even though it no longer has the absolute status it once had.

In some neighborhoods there are even real surprises. For the first time, a hint of pink color can be found in the Danube city. In Sprengel 156, on the Upper Old Danube, the NEOS became the strongest party with 25.4 percent of the votes.

The area is characterized by single-family homes, some of which are located directly on the banks of the Old Danube. Possible explanations for the success of NEOS: At the beginning of this year, the community work was changed. According to the pink junior partner, we are even more active in the districts.

Fritz Grams is also active with the NEOS in the 22nd arrondissement. He was the pink top candidate in the AK elections. His intensive advertising work would have paid off on Sunday.

Car-free scheme votes eco party as number 1
There is a green biotope in Floridsdorf. In the car-free model settlement of Nordmanngasse on Donaufeld, the Greens overtook the SPÖ with 133 votes (130 votes). What is special about the residential complex? By signing the rental agreement, the residents of the 244 rental apartments agreed not to have their own car. However, in the Schlingerhof community building on the Floridsdorfer Markt, the FPÖ won and even achieved an absolute majority with 50.7 percent.
