The President of the Parliament of Catalonia did not want to highlight the developments regarding the contacts he maintains with the political groups ahead of the inauguration, recalling that Puigdemont was inaugurated in 2015 on the last day before the deadline for new elections.

The President of the Parliament of Catalonia, Joseph Rull (Junts), has been cautious but confident about the possibility that the House will pass within a period of two months. As he recalled, Carles Puigdemont was inaugurated “on the last day, the last afternoon, it was a Sunday”, before the deadline for the election repeat passed. “We have two months. In Catalonia we are used to achieving unprecedented things,” he assured.
In a telephone interview given to the program “Boulevard” on Radio Euskadi, Rull did not want to advance events regarding the round of contacts he is maintaining with the groups – today he meets ERC, Junts and PSC – ahead of the inauguration. and has shown that he has “absolute respect for the aspirations of the parties”, after asking Salvador Illa (PSC) for more time to negotiate with the Republicans.
When asked about the application of the amnesty law and the return from exile of former president Carles PuigdemontBefore the inauguration, the convergent leader has stated that “logic says that he should return without any risk of being arrested”, although he has clarified that “from personal experience” he does not dare to favor the attitude of the Supreme Court. “One thing is what the law says, and another thing is what the Supreme Court does: there is a cosmic imbalance; the Supreme Court rewrites the law, it happens too often.”
Finally, regarding the proposal of the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, to reform the system regional financingthe President of the Parliament believes that “there is no point in discussing such a transcendental issue as the financing of Catalonia in such tactical terms” – with reference to the investiture.
