A day after National Court Judge Manuel García Castellón filed the ‘Tsunami Democràtic’ case, the Volhov caseJoaquin Aguirre, has refused to grant amnesty to former President of the Generalitat Carles Puigdemont and the others involved in the alleged ‘Russian interference’ in the trial and has asked the Supreme Court to investigate them for the reasons crimes of treason, embezzlement and criminal organization.
Despite being ordered by the Barcelona court last May to close the case over alleged Russian interference in the trial, for prolonging it without justification, Aguirre opened a new separate case in June. Volhov case in which he targeted, among others, the former presidents of the Generalitat Artur Mas and Carles Puigdemont and the deputy of the Junt, Francesc de Dalmases.
Since Puigdemont and Dalmases are graduates – both are deputies in parliament – the judge, after rejecting that the amnesty could be applied to them, has now sent a reasoned statement to the Supreme Court, asking that it take over the investigation into these issues. this reason for the crimes of embezzlement, treason and criminal organization.
