During a press conference in Ajuria Enea, Ortuzar assured that the PNV shares Pradales’ approach, namely that it is up to the parties to “agree on the most appropriate procedure to channel the new legal pact”. In this sense, they have announced that they will meet with “all the political parties that have passed through Ajuria Enea today” (the Jeltzales therefore also exclude Vox from these meetings) to see your character and try to agree with it the method and content of “this challenge as important and necessary as the modernization of Basque self-government.” As he indicated, these meetings will be “necessarily discreet.”

In the same vein, he communicated to the Lehendakari the “maximum cooperation” of the parliamentary groups that the PNV has at its disposal, both in Vitoria-Gasteiz and in Madrid, so that the pending powers of the Gernika statute are realised “as soon as possible”.

Health pact: ‘It doesn’t work for the PNV’

Regarding the other important issue discussed during the meeting, Ortuzar stressed the need to reach a country agreement on health. “This was a priority identified from the first moment by the PNV and by the then candidate for Lehendakari Pradales, and it is our declared commitment to contribute to making this pact possible. For the PNV, this will not be the case,” he assured.

Therefore, he appealed to the responsibility of the parties, “whose initial statements point in the right direction” to achieve this. “We trust that his current words will be continued in his future actions,” he added.

He further stressed that his party is committed to helping ‘create broad consensus’ on the issues marked as priorities by the Lehendakari.
