On Tuesday, the Ministry of Justice published the report of the investigative committee that investigated possible political influence during the term of office of the late ex-section chief Christian Pilnacek. The 230-page report has been partly redacted on the grounds of privacy protection.
15 pages have been completely blacked out. Not just individual passages or words, but the entire page. For example, page 165 of the report of the investigation committee.
What happened in the Black Camel?
Only two text modules escaped the editors of Green Justice Minister Alma Zadić: In the Black Camel and “in April 2012”. Background: The Black Camel in the centre of Vienna was the favourite restaurant of the late department head Christian Pilnacek for many years. What happened in the chic restaurant is apparently classified information.
Huge criticism of Zadic
A passage about the death of the former section chief was also made unrecognizable. Judicial files on specific cases were largely concealed. The editing on behalf of a Green minister caused criticism – because the Greens stand for transparency.
The past 13 years were the focus of the investigation committee. It discovered many anomalies, including the Telekom scandal. Here the committee writes: ‘The case clearly shows how in a closed system (…) of not unimportant suspicions against a high-ranking representative of the judiciary, no further investigation is carried out, but the procedure is ‘quietly’ terminated. ‘ as possible.”

The full text of the inquiry commission was not immediately provided, which has drawn criticism from the opposition. The document has now been posted online on the Justice Ministry’s website.
