The cost ceiling was raised from seven to 8.6 million euros. Nehammer has to campaign with a smaller budget than Sebastian Kurz. The Greens are investing five million euros.
In two months, there will be elections. Preparations for the election campaign are in full swing. The good news for the parties: the ceiling for campaign costs has been raised – while in 2019 it was still seven million, each party can invest up to 8,662,515 euros in the super election year to attract votes. De Kroon wondered how well the parties’ campaign coffers are filled. However, ÖVP, SPÖ and FPÖ do not provide precise information about the figures…
According to its own statement, the People’s Party does not want to use the maximum and will participate in every round of voting in mid-August. Nehammer will in any case conduct his election campaign with less financial resources than his predecessor Sebastian Kurz. There are two reasons for this: Firstly, there is a lack of money for the campaign, because the legal costs for the short process were relatively high. Secondly, the ÖVP wants a financial buffer in case the Court of Auditors objects to the billing again.
The SPÖ also does not want to announce the size of the election campaign budget in advance. The first series of posters will be visible from mid-August; the official start of the campaign is on 29 August at 6 p.m. Video spots and advertisements are planned, among other things.
No information from the FPÖ
The PVV did not want to provide any information.
The pink campaign budget amounts to 3.4 million euros. This includes, for example, advertising, events, flyers and personnel costs during the election campaign. The “Reformkraft on Tour” starts on August 6 in Altmünster. The party wants to present posters in mid-August and early September.
The federal green party has saved five million euros for the election campaign. Of that, they are investing 2.9 million euros in election posters, while additional money will flow to events, flyers and an advertising agency, for example. Werner Kogler will go on tour in mid-August.
KPÖ and Beer Party frugal
The KPÖ will spend around 800,000 euros. A quarter of this will go to posters and advertisements, another quarter to printed matter and its mailing, a quarter to the youth election campaign and online advertising, and the remaining quarter to other things, such as events. “Unlike the established parties, we do not pay election workers. The election campaign is fully supported by our 2,000 members and activists,” the report said.
“We have to be very careful with our financial resources. “We will define a concrete budget after the measures are completed,” the beer party replied to the “Krone”. It demands an upper limit for election posters and will therefore be frugal with them. The tour through Austria is expected to start in September.
