In a meeting of the ERC management that lasted almost ten hours, the internal debate around the proposal was clear, based on improvements in the financing and the promotion of Catalan. Now, the almost 8,700 activists will ratify the decision via telematic consultation or not.
This Monday, the ERC Board approved the provisional agreement with the PSC to appoint socialist leader Salvador Illa as President of the Generalitat, after a meeting lasting almost ten hours, and which is based on improvements in financing and the promotion of Catalan.
This was stated by sources consulted while waiting for the party to submit the preliminary agreement to a vote by its nearly 8,700 members, who will ratify the decision or not via telematic consultation.
The internal debate surrounding the proposal was clearly evident at the meeting, which came on the same day that the Socialists also convened their executive branch on Monday afternoon.
Coinciding with the ERC meeting in Calàbria Street in Barcelona, the PSC leadership also held a shorter meeting this afternoon at its headquarters on Pallars Street.
All this when the ERC set the end of July as the deadline to reach a preliminary agreement – which would then validate the foundations – despite the fact that the maximum legal deadline to avoid a repeat of elections expires on August 26.
