Survey “Krone” – a lot of support for blue-turquoise and a big BUT

Date:

Who should rule in the future? The “Krone” surveyed its readership. The trend: There is a narrow majority for Blue-Turquoise, but many also want the so-called “candy coalition” to rule…

The “Voice of Austria”, initiated by the “Krone” in the election campaign, is heard. It is expressed daily in user comments and letters to the editor. We have listed all wishes, requirements, concerns and fears.

Topics ranging from inflation to migration were discussed. Now, after the exciting elections, the “Krone” asked again: which coalition would you like to have?

Who are ideologically close to each other and what doesn’t work at all?
Conclusion of the admittedly unrepresentative survey: there is a slight tendency towards an FPÖ-ÖVP government or ÖVP-FPÖ. But what the ‘Krone’ calls the ‘candy coalition’ – consisting of turquoise, red and pink – is also very popular.

Here are some selected letters from our readers expressing their desire for an FPÖ-ÖVP government:

  • Hans Horak from Baumgarten wishes “Blue-black! They are closest ideologically and form an effective government!”.
  • Manfred G. from Linz is also in favor of blue with turquoise/black: “If Nehammer cannot overcome his shadow, he must resign.”
  • Rainer Biegler wants Herbert Kickl as chancellor and the ÖVP as a partner: “A government made up of losers will certainly not make friends with the people.”
  • Helmut Klauser from Graz in a nutshell: “FPÖ+ÖVP with Chancellor Kickl. As an entrepreneur I was always an ÖVP voter, never again!”
  • Another reader thinks that a “candy government” is doomed to failure, especially because the SPÖ is taking a completely different direction than the ÖVP and the economically liberal NEOS.

But the ‘sugar coalition’ also has plenty of fans. Below are some letters:

  • Wolfgang Maister does “against any coalition with Kickl. He would only be suitable as a ‘propaganda minister’. For me that only leaves ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS.”
  • Another gentleman is convinced: “Turquoise-red-pink because now is finally the opportunity to prevent right-wing radicals from participating in the government, and this variant is also the largestpossible represents the majority.”
  • David from Golling makes a comprehensive argument. His conclusion: “The bottom line is that the sweet treat is considerably more popular in the midst of a ‘quieter’ society. I count myself in this middle and want a stable government that implements real reforms, away from radicalism.
  • The Müllner couple from Vienna are also in favor of the ‘trio’. “This variant would have at least 110 mandates. The Greens are real dreamers who usually come up with bans. The FPÖ is too extreme in too many things.”

Van der Bellen first speaks with Kickl
Whatever the outcome. The decision will take some time. Until then, the old government will continue to rule until a new one is found. From Friday, the Federal President will hold talks with the leaders of the five parliamentary parties. His first discussion partner will be FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl.

Van der Bellen made no difference whether he would entrust the blue party leader with the formation of a government after the liberal election victory. He announced that “as a first step” he would talk to representatives of all parliamentary parties.

Regardless of Van der Bellen’s decision, almost all ‘Krone’ readers agree: once the government is in power, it must remain stable during the legislature.
