Markus Wallner (ÖVP) from Vorarlberg faces a temporary retreat. Contrary to initial media information, however, he should not resign but take a health break. According to information from the “Krone”, he recently went on sick leave “on urgent medical advice” for several weeks. Wallner is currently under massive criticism for an alleged corruption affair.
At 10:00 a press conference was announced with a statement from Wallner: According to insiders, the high level of stress of recent months has left him “signs on health”. In addition to the protracted, difficult challenge to overcome the crisis, the “baseless accusations” surrounding the advertisements about the Wirtschaftsbund are said to have contributed to this.
The Public Prosecution Service for Economic Affairs and Corruption (WKStA) recently launched an investigation against Wallner in the same case.
