According to South Korean sources, Russia has provided its close ally North Korea with anti-aircraft missiles in exchange for North Korean soldiers. It has been determined that “equipment and anti-aircraft missiles have been supplied to North Korea to strengthen Pyongyang’s weak air defense system,” South Korea’s national security adviser Shin Won-sik said on Friday.
North Korea and Russia, both sanctioned by the West, have strengthened their ties since the start of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine. According to Ukrainian, South Korean and Western government sources, North Korea has sent more than 10,000 soldiers to Russia to fight against Ukraine.
Defense pact concluded in case of attack
In addition, both countries agreed to a defense pact that guarantees each other military support in the event of an attack.
North Korea denies sending soldiers
Seoul reported last week that North Korean soldiers were already actively involved in combat operations near the border with Ukraine. Pyongyang itself vehemently denies sending the soldiers.
