Candy coalition: – “Efforts are already underway to determine how long this will last”

Date:

The negotiations on the candy coalition have already progressed further. However, there are changes in the dates. For example, the Thursday on which an interim report must be delivered is not sustainable, Nikolaus Frings explains in the live talk of krone.tv. And: “The parties are betting on how long this can continue to go well.”

If there was an agreement, there would already be people who would say: ‘Well, let’s just do it for a year and a half, then we can also agree on the budget.’ But certainly not a second time.” According to experts, the next three quarters will be the worst economically in Austria in fifty years. “So I’m curious to see how they will reach an agreement next fall.”

Prestige projects resolved
In any case, a fundamental agreement must be reached before Christmas. There are already some prestige projects: “There is an integration package, mandatory courses in German and values for migrants and a tougher approach. An energy company tax is an issue. There are some prestige projects that have already been agreed upon at the top, even if they may not have gotten that far in the lower groups.”

The party leaders would be disappointed by the fact that the FPÖ was not given the task of forming a government. “That was part of it that wasn’t their fault. Then a part has already been added that you can attribute to yourself. Because when it became clear that Karl Nehammer would be given the mandate to form a government, we took an autumn break.” Given the difficult political and economic circumstances in our country, that was the wrong signal at the right time, says Frings.
