Peace in Ukraine? – Europe’s heads are advised on Trump

Date:

After the US President Donald Trump, according to his own statements, the Kremlin boss Vladimir wants to meet Putin for Ukraine negotiations, the European countries want to vote in Paris-Ze on Monday afternoon by the fear of being excluded from the conversations.

The situation is serious: according to the Elysée Palace, French President Emmanuel Macron receives the heads of Germany, Great Britain, Poland and Italy. NATO boss Marc Rutte and EU EU Commission Chief Ursula von der Leyen are also expected. There is no interim Chancellor Alexander Schallenberg (ÖVP).

Shortly before the European Ukrainian conference in Paris, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer offered to send soldiers to Ukraine after a peace. Sweden would also consider a contribution to a peace mission in Ukraine, said Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson on Monday. However, he added that the negotiations had to continue before such a decision.

Other EU countries were reluctant. Germany does not yet see the time to tackle the issue of placing peacemakes on Ukraine. First of all, it should be seen “whether and how peace arises for Ukraine,” said a government spokeswoman in Berlin. Similar statements also came from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Vienna on Monday.

Foreign ministry: currently “purely hypothetical nature”
The issue of an Austrian participation in a peace mission is “purely hypothetical in nature,” said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Humanitarian aid for the country covered by the war – Austria mobilized so far around 300 million euros – has in any case been continued. Vienna does not deliver weapons and does not finance arms deliveries, the ministry emphasized.

According to Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Poland will not send soldiers to Ukraine. However, it will continue to support his neighboring country, he says before his departure to Paris. Poland is obliged to continue to support Ukraine together with the European partners and the US. His country plays a special role in guaranteeing close cooperation between Europe, the US and Ukraine. At the same time, Tusk calls for a stronger presence of European security forces in Poland, both a member of the European Union and NATO.

Kremlin welcomed the Parisian top
Russia welcomed the special top in the European Ukraine course in Paris. It is good if you are talking about the end of the conflict and no longer talking about the sequel, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskow interpreted the meeting of the Russian news agency Interfax. Russia has repeatedly criticized that the war enters Ukraine through the delivery of Western weapons.

Peskow called the issue of a possible sending of European peace enforcers in Ukraine in France and Great -Britain “difficult” because they were from NATO member states. There are rules for such an assignment, he emphasized. “But so far there are no concrete discussions,” said Peskow. Russia had started his aggression war against Ukraine almost three years ago to prevent the country’s country in NATO.

American envoys to receive Ukraine from Leyen
After the Paris meeting on Tuesday, Van de Leyen wants to receive the American envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, in Brussels. Trump had made one and a half hour telephone conversation last Wednesday with the Russian head of the state of Vladimir Putin – without in advance coordinating with the Europeans. Afterwards Trump said he had an “immediate” start of the negotiations on the future of Ukraine with the Kremlin boss once with the Kremlin boss. This caused the fears of Western allies that both Ukraine and the European partners were excluded from the Ukraine interviews.
