Ermua is organizing the acts in honor of this weekend Michelangelo White on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of his kidnapping and murder by ETA. Today was the People’s Party who remembers the murdered mayor, in July 1997, with the closing ceremony of the ‘Miguel Ángel Blanco Summer School’ in which the president of the PP participated, Alberto Nunez Feijoothe former President of the Government of Spain Jose Maria Aznar Y Mari White Seasister of the murdered councilor, as well as the president of the Basque PP, Carlos Iturgaiz

In his speech, the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, promised to repeal the law of historical memory and assured that he will also work to obtain the votes of the PSOE so that “together we restore memory and justice “.

He has indicated that “those who aspire to be worthy heirs of Miguel Ángel Blanco” defend the rule of law and therefore “accept the anomaly that the figureheads of that terrorism are in the institutions they set out to destroy, sowing pain and horror”. In any case, he added, it provokes them “a deep aversion to the fact that they are the ones dictating to the democratic government the terms of democratic memory”. “Under these circumstances, memory is neither democratic. It is an episode unworthy of our democracy,” emphasized the chairman of the PP.

For this reason, he has expressed his commitment to repeal the “misnamed” Democratic Memory Act and has assured that he will work “not only to get the votes of the PP and other parliamentary groups, but also the votes of the next PSOE so that together we can restore memory and justice.”

For his part, Aznar recalled going to Ermua 25 years ago to accompany the Blanco family to bury Miguel Ángel to fulfill his “obligation and responsibility”. After denouncing that “the terrorists were blackmailing and wanting to bring the state to its knees”, he ruled that this had not been possible and emphasized that Miguel Ángel Blanco “is not a past closed, but a reference to the future “.

“Those who justified, announced, threatened, and those who encouraged it to kill are among us. In policies that destroy the essential values of democracy, they are allowed to manipulate and rewrite history, insulting those who heroically staged “, underlined. For this reason, he stressed that “no comma they would put in a law that talks about memory would be acceptable and it won’t be.” “No comma from these killers will ever be acceptable in a memory project for the PP,” he said, referring to Democratic Memory Law.

That is why he has asked all Spaniards and Núñez Feijóo, who he said will become the next president of the Spanish government, that “this commitment is projected into the future”.
