ÖVP and the Greens argued for a whole legislative period and did not end up in the end. Now the climate law with binding destinations must be decided in 2030 in the summer.
In an interview with “krone.tv”, climate minister Norbert Taptschnig explains the goals: “We in Austria have set ourselves the goal of reducing emissions by 48 percent by 2030. We are already on schedule, but there will be extra efforts in the next few years.
Fewer regulations, more shoulder closure
In particular, this means, for example: in the building area, they promote measures to “get out of oil and gas” or more e-mobility in traffic. “In climate legislation we are not concerned with a smorgas board of regulations, but on a feasible framework that is worn. It is crucial that this law does not rise over the spirits, but at the end of the shoulder,” Tessschnig said.
The minister will also reorganize all climate and environmental financing and has commissioned an evaluation report. This is expected in June. “We had a real hurry for the period 2023 to 27 3.7 billion euros in a pot for thermal renovation. This also had negative effects, for example that prices have risen that there have been bottlenecks.
The goal is that existing special rails are stored. Comfortable names “from oil”, room heat, e-mobility and the expansion of renewable energy sources.
