The helicopter of Russian President Vladimir Putin is reportedly attacked by drones when he visits Kursk. The Ukrainian army “started an unprecedented attack,” said Yuri Dashkin, commander of the air defense in the Kursk Oblast. 46 Ukrainian drones were destroyed.
“At the same time we fought a battle with the air defense and we insured the flight of the presidential helicopter from the air. The helicopter was actually in the epicenter of defending a large -scale drone attack,” BBC quoted Dashkin. It is not known whether Putin was in the helicopter during the attack.
Putin’s first visit to Kursk since recapture
The Kremlin chef met Tuesday evening during a visit to the Kurchtow energy plant with the governor of the area, Alexander Chinschtejn, local officials and clubs. According to the state of the state of Russian news agency Tass, the construction site of the Kursker AKW-2 was also visited.
Parts of the Kursk region were conquered in August 2024 in the Ukrainian advance and occupied until March. At the end of April, Russia announced that the North Korean soldiers region used to check again. It was Putin’s first visit to the Kursk region since the recapture.

After his visit, Putin said he wanted to build a buffer zone “along the border”. Details about whether it should also lead by Ukrainian territory have not been announced. “Our armed forces are solving this task – enemy focal points are actively suppressed, the work is underway,” says Putin.
Kiev foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha commented on X about the plans of a buffer zone in Kursk:
