Pact against Putin – Habeck pledges support in case of crisis

Date:

German super minister Robert Habeck was in Vienna for eight hours. He signed a pact against Russian ruler Vladimir Putin with Environment Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens).

Many wanted to shine by his side. Leonore Gewessler (Greens), Karoline Edtstadler, Martin Kocher (both ÖVP) and Alexander Van der Bellen – within eight hours, German Economics Minister Robert Habeck (Greens), the celebrated crisis communicator of the traffic light coalition, completed a tour that took him from the Ministry of the Environment to the Chancellery, to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and to the Hofburg. Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler was also on the program, but a corona infection thwarted him from all people who are friends with Habeck.

Germany’s most popular politician
Although Habeck, as Minister of Economy since the beginning of the war, has rarely announced good news, he is Germany’s most popular politician. The secret of his success: he gets rid of trite sentences. Even the German business elite confirm that Habeck is not a green dreamer, but makes pragmatic decisions without losing sight of the goal of the energy transition.

Habeck also spoke unpleasant truths after meeting Environment Minister Leonore Gewessler. The time for saying, “I’m not interested in where the energy is coming from, because it’s coming from the outlet anyway,” Habeck said.

Tyrol and Ländle not on the Austrian network
Europe was open to blackmail. But, so the good news from Habeck: “No matter how bleak the day is, it doesn’t have to be a bad thing, because it goes hand in hand with the realization that democracies can make a difference.” Germany, Austria and Europe are now a “community of destiny”.

To minimize the possibility of blackmailing Vladimir Putin, Leonore Gewessler and Habeck signed an agreement. In the event of a gas shortage, it has been agreed that every effort will be made to maintain the gas pipeline. This is especially important for Tyrol and Vorarlberg, as the two federal states are not connected to the Austrian gas network. The statement also applies to the Haidach gas storage facility and the LNG terminals being built in Germany.
