The goal is Europe – an alliance against the increasingly brutal smuggling mafia

Date:

In the fight against human traffickers, the five EU countries Hungary, Lithuania, Slovakia, Poland and Austria rely on cooperation: 45,000 migrants are ready to march in the Balkans – as many as twelve million refugees want to go to Europe!

The influx of refugees threatens to spill over into the second half of the year. The international number of migrants ready to march exceeds all previous fears: 30,000 refugees are on the Greek mainland – and 15,000 in the Balkans. The majority want to continue for the winter. Equally important for Europe: two million Afghans are waiting in Iran. From there, after crossing the border, they would only need a month to get to western Turkey. Four million migrants – mainly from Syria and Afghanistan – are already gone!

And in Egypt, six million refugees are waiting to one day leave (mainly by boat) for the EU. However, Cairo does not yet allow tow vehicles. When leaving the country, the Egyptians very consistently check ports and airports to see if the necessary visas are available.

Close cooperation against human traffickers
That is why Interior Minister Gerhard Karner clearly addressed his colleagues at the most recent council in Prague: “Close cooperation is a decisive factor in the fight against people smuggling and illegal migration.” For months, red-white-red police officers with Hungarian colleagues have ensured that smugglers are intercepted outside the Austrian borders. Four of his colleagues in Prague expressed support for an alliance against the smuggling mafia: namely Bartosz Grodecki (Poland), Roman Mikulec (Slovakia), Agne Bilotaite (Lithuania) and Hungarian Interior Minister Sandor Pinter.

Because the unscrupulousness of the smugglers, but also an increased aggressiveness of some migrants is noticeable (organized “fence attacks”; diversionary maneuvers so that the police are tied to certain places; stone throwing and lattice attacks on officials; posing with weapons, etc. .). The main migrant countries: Syria, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan and Tunisia.

Hungarian minister Pinter has also raised the alarm for another reason: In June alone, 108,000 migrants had attempted to cross the border into Hungary. Where it would have been 121,000 the entire previous year. In view of the situation that has gotten out of hand (397 arrests in Hungary), Minister Karner has offered Budapest further support with special equipment.

Tractor accident drama
Thermal imaging buses, cameras and five all-terrain vehicles are currently in use with the Austrian contingent on the borders with Romania and Serbia. The accident drama in Moson, Hungary, shows how reckless the smuggling mafia’s henchmen are now: during a chase on Wednesday evening (four patrol cars from Austria were also there), the smuggler steered the car against a market stall: nine injured!
