The region calls for help – “When the clinic dies, the real pain begins”

Date:

The city councilor of Gmünder Spö Thomas Miksch says what you hear from many places in the region. The closure of the Waldviertel hospital would be a devastating blow. The state policy is responsible for this. Because nothing effective has been done for decades for a positive population development in the distant north.

The Waldviertel has been suffering a sharp decrease in the population for decades. Previous efforts to save the quarter failed. Important investments were repeatedly moved to the metropolitan areas. And the relevant, high -ranging traffic axes on the street and rail that should bring the border region to the “heart of Europe” were eliminated.

Not paid to survive …
It remains a negative spiral, not only in population loss, but also in the heads of people. They accuse the state and federal politics. With the population prediction as a basis, expert personnel has also planned the future for the medical facilities in Lower Austria. Social aspects were not used. “State policy has decided the Health Pact without paying attention to the survival of the region”, violent allegations of the Waldviertel sound.

Politics responsible for development
Politics is responsible for the development – but also for death – the region. The added value of the Landschau 2028 in Gmünd would not even match that of the hospital in one year. And even with the added value of the planned clinic set, you don’t even expect a tenth.

Showing is becoming increasingly critical
Local politicians in the region speak loudly. Because it is clear to many that the citizens no longer accept the destruction of the latest infrastructures and that the development of development continues. Gmünd’s ÖVP Mayor Helga Rosenmayer speaks about a lack of appreciation, “if the hospital is getting away now”.

“In every respect, irresponsible”
A political issue that is “irresponsible in any way”, sees the city council of Spö Thomas Miksch. Health investments would be deducted from Gmünd to send them to other regions. “This is unfair and a disadvantage towards people here.”

Modern care must be organized decentally: “Fast accessible clinics with clear priorities.” The centrally planned structures of the Health Pact are a clear step backwards. The regional politician emphasizes social -economic, but also for the health care system itself.
