Date:

They are the winners of the test that was played between Torrevieja and Cartagena

The VI Punta Este Regatta, Punta Este Trophy 2022 already has new champions. The predictions were fulfilled both in the chapter of the favorites entering the pools to get to the podium and the two forecast weather forecasts, creating a rather fast regatta in both versions, after a somewhat slow start, mainly from the RCN of Torrevieja, with only 5 knots going up. In the RCR of Cartagena de Levante of 7-8 knots which increased rapidly after going out to the open sea.

The start in the Cartagena RCR, with 31 boats on the line, took place at 11:25 AM, launching the joint fleet, while in the Torrevieja RCN, with 42 boats registered, the commission launched the fleet at 11:40 AM for the fleet of group A. After them the rest left, groups B and C respectively.

Both starts were very technical and were being worked on by the fleet, especially in Cartagena, with a very changeable wind direction at the start which meant many of the boats had to start their journey with spinnakers although they had on the first change. to sink down and take a blow that brought them to Cabo de Palos. In Torrevieja, with those lazy winds, the fleet had to tackle an unmarking beacon, so in that short mile from that pass the fleet arrived quite grouped, having stretched a lot until Isla Grosa and reached the CN Villa of San Pedro.

The favorites did not fail and quickly took the lead in their respective fleets and in their categories, in the case of the ‘Maverta’, ‘Fandango 300’, ‘Griego’, ‘Sopu Tres’ or ‘Tucana I’ from Torrevieja or ‘ Nemox -Bnfix’, ‘HMS Surprise’, ‘Kawan’, ‘Cota Cero’ from Cartagena, as indicated in the information prior to the regatta.

‘Moti’ meanwhile was the first in Group B (North Version) to take the finish (3:31 PM), while Dufour 34 Tamoa’ did so in C, with a stop time at 3:55 PM and 1 minute the ‘J80 Torpedo Jamonero’ came in.

As for the South version, ‘Kawan’ was the fastest. Andrés Guillamot’s ‘First 40.7′ arrived in Cabo de Palos at 2:49 PM and set a time of 3 hours. 24’ 11” to complete the 18.4 miles. With barely 1 minute difference the ‘X35 Nemox’ arrived and at 6 o’clock the ‘HMS Surprise’ arrived. The minimal difference in real time was also reflected in Group C, with ‘Saleroso 2.0’ and ‘Zalata’. The first arrived at 3:24 PM and the second at 3:25 PM. ‘Tentontú’ was the third: 3:34 PM.

After achieving the compensated times, the podiums closed with ‘Maverta’, ‘Fandango 300’ and ‘Griego’ in ORC A; ‘Moti’, ‘Mevilla-Jumbruck’ and ‘Nayade’ in ORC B, and ‘Tucana I’, ‘Daikoku’ and ‘Inidigo’ in ORC C, as for the northern version. In the South Version, ‘Nemox-Bmfix’, ‘HMS Surprise’ and ‘Kawan’ make up the top three places in ORC AB, while ‘Zalata’, ‘Saleroso 2.0’ and ‘Siwa’ completed the podium in ORC C.
