A new controversy has stirred up women’s football. After the referees’ strike and the embarrassing chapter of the double draw celebration for the League calendar, new news has emerged to add fuel to the fire. The RFEF has decided to increase the fines for cards received by players to match them with LaLiga Santander.
This is a proposal that the clubs of the new women’s professional league have not yet accepted, because from now on they will have to pay 180 euros for each yellow card a footballer receives and 350 euros for a red card. So, it is from 4 euros to this 180, while the price of red is set at 9 euros and will go to 350.
The proposal was adopted whenever the Spanish Federation understood that the professionalization of the League had to include this change. Bearing in mind that many LPFF clubs are still shuffling humble figures, this is a real setback.
Article 52 of the Disciplinary Code reads: “In professional competitions, the penalty of reprimand for directors, soccer players, coaches and assistants will carry, for the club in question, an additional fine of 180 euros when In the case of teams assigned to the First Division, and of 90 euros in the case of teams assigned to the Second Division The suspension penalty will have a fine of 350 euros, in the case of teams assigned to the First Division, and of 200 euros in the case of teams assigned to the Second Division, for each match or month it covers”.
