The Thinking Football Film Festival, organized by the Athletic Club Foundation, has scheduled a double session for today dedicated to women’s and women’s football. The first of the screenings, scheduled for 6 pm, is titled ‘LFG’. This film has already been broadcast at the opening of ‘Thinking, Letters and Football 2021’, an event also organized by the Bilbao club.
“Three months before the 2019 Women’s World Cup in France, where they are the champions, American players have filed a class action lawsuit for gender discrimination against their soccer federation. The LFG (an acronym for ‘Let’ s fucking go’) is a documentary that follows this story by focusing on the players who led the way: Megan Rapinoe, Jessica McDonald, Becky Sauerbrunn, Kelley O’Hara, Christen Press, Sam Mewis and former player Julie Foudy. An intimate and moving portrait of a series of women who meet the demands of elite athletes while showcasing their courage, indomitable spirit and resilience in an effort to create lasting social change for women’s rights .the Athletic Foundation itself.

The second session of the day, starting at 8:00 pm, includes the screening of the documentary ‘Destino Confidencial: champions’. Documentary that tells the story of the Mexican women’s team that played in the 1971 soccer world championship and was declared runner-up. Alicia “Pelé” Vargas, considered one of the best players of all time and leading scorer for the historic team, will attend the discussion after the film.
