Sporting de Gijón added an important point to Santo Domingo allowing them to get closer to permanence, thanks to a goal in the second half by Víctor Campuzano, and left Alcorcón virtually relegated, left with no margin of error in seven days of league remaining.
Once the game started, in the first minute, Alcorcón was ahead of the scoreboard. Alex Mula received the right wing, extended for Venezuelan Víctor García, who reached the bottom line, placed a cross in the middle of the area taken by Gio Zarfino as he climbed above Sporting’s defenders to finish the a header against ‘Pichu’ Cuellar.

The goal left the Asturian team frozen for a moment, having a hard time getting into the rhythm of the game. He found it fourteen minutes later, when Argentine José Luis ‘Puma’ Rodríguez failed to score a point-blank shot caught by Jesús Ruiz, after a drop shot by Pablo Pérez.
From that action the match became over even without any team being able to impose their dominance, although Sporting had some pretty dangerous approach. One had a distant shot from ‘Puma’ Rodríguez caught by Jesús Ruiz and another had a shot from Gaspar Campos who crossed the crossbar in his attempt to lob it.
Sporting’s improvement, especially as a result of half-time changes, allowed them, in the middle of the second half, to equalize the tournament. He did so after a good drive by Pablo Pérez, who got to the edge of the area and gave way by passing his right to Víctor Campuzano, who was ahead of David Fernández to finish the goal before Jesús Ruiz left.
The goal did not deter Alcorcón, who with the entry of Nigerian Manu Apeh improved their offensive performance and sometimes overwhelmed Sporting’s goal, even though there was no depth necessary to put Cuéllar in trouble.
The last chance of the match was for Alcorcón with a header from Roberto Olabe that crossed the crossbar.
