2022 calendar with 21 appointments in which Aragon falls

Date:

The FIM from Thailand has published the first draft of the 2023 MotoGP World Championship calendar where there will be 21 events that will take place between March 26 with the Portuguese GP in Portimao and November 26 with the closing event in Cheste,. The latest thing is the entry of the GPs of Kazakhstan and India, Finland stopped being part of that draft and the Aragon GP fell.

Spain retains three of its four Grands Prix, the fourth of the campaign being the Spanish GP in Jerez (April 30), the Catalan GP from June to September as the 12th GP (September 3) and the Valencian Community GP is the campaign will close on November 26.

It is understood that the remodeling works of the Losail International Circuit have forced the organization to abandon the traditional opening position of the campaign to give them time to finish and move it to the end of the Asian tour before Valencia.

The competition will start in Portugal at the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve and from there to the American tour Termas de Río Hondo and Austin to return to Europe with the Spanish GP. Le Mans will play host to the 1,000th Grand Prix before three weeks later the paddock travels to a continental triple-header of Mugello, Sachsenring and Assen. Kazakhstan will start on July 9 at the new Sokol circuit before a summer break that lasts until August 6 with another European tour with the British GP at Silverstone, followed by Austria, Catalonia and San Marino to leave the Old continent.

The Asian tour will be opened by India on September 24. The debut of the Buddh International Circuit will make it the 75th venue where the premier class has contested the race, and India will become the 31st country to host of a motorcycle Grand Prix. From there, the paddock heads to Japan at the Motegi classic, before a weekend off to prepare for another Mandalika – Phillip Island – Buriram triplet, before another weekend off for the Malaysia-Qatar double, the penultimate race of the season under the Lusail spotlights. After another week’s rest, closing in Cheste.
