Nadal and Badosa will form a mixed team in the new United Cup

Rafael Nadal and Paula Badosa will lead the Spanish team that will compete in the United Cup, the new tournament of mixed teams that will be held from December 29 to January 8 in Australian cities of Brisbane, Perth and Sydney.

There will be 16 countries that will be divided into six groups of three. Each tie will consist of two men’s singles, as many women’s and one mixed double. The final group leaders advance to the final stage, in Sydney, with quarters, semifinals and finals.

In addition to Nadal and Badosa, in the official list provided by the organization (Tennis Australia (TA), ATP and WTA), appears Pablo Carreno, Albert Ramos and the doubles David Vega, Nuria Parrizas and Jessica Bouzas. Each formation can have a maximum of four boys and four girls.

The event takes over the dates of the defunct ATP Cup and commemorates the mixed teams of the Hopman Cup, always on Australian territory as a shuttle to the Open in Melbourne.

Among the registered participants, Greece of Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari, Poland with Iga Swiatek and Huber Hurkacz, United States announcing Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe and Jessica Pegula. Other advanced figures are the Italian Matteo Berrettini, the French Caroline Garcia, recent ‘master’ of the WTA Finals, the Australian. Nick Kyrgiosthe German Alexander Zverev or the Norwegian Casper Ruud.

There are 15 million dollars in prizes and points for the ATP and WTA rankings, with consideration for category 500 tournaments, as is the case, for example, of the Conde de Godó Trophy.
