Leipzig are second in the Bundesliga after a fourth successive victory over Werder Bremen (1-2) and, with the rest of the day, they are just ahead of leaders Bayern Munich.
Since the arrival of Marco Rose on their bench, Leipzig has taken a radical turn. He left the lower zone with solvency, found his way to the Bundesliga and also to the Champions League, where he gained access to the round of 16 after losing to Real Madrid.
Leipzig won at the Weserstadion in Bremen (1-2) after inflicting Werder’s second straight defeat, which lasted until the final stages. Portuguese André Silva put the visitors ahead after fifteen minutes but Christian Gross equalized in the 57th minute. Marco Rose’s team got the win in the 70th minute thanks to Austrian Xaver Schlager.
Leipzig are second ahead of Union Berlin and Freiburg, trailing by a point and tomorrow they face an exciting match.
Third straight league victory for Xabi Alonso
Xabi Alonso also managed to improve Bayer Leverkusen. Today they beat Stuttgart (2-0) at the BayArena to add their third league win and stay firmly in the middle of the table.
It was the French Moussa Diaby, after half an hour, and Jonathan Tah, seven minutes from the end, that with their goals the Leverkusen team got a new victory.
Wolfsburg, another on a roll
Wolfsburg are also on a roll, having achieved their fourth consecutive victory by winning at the PreZero Arena in Hoffenheim (1-2). The team led by Croatian Nico Kovac, who overcame the advantage gained by his rival on the verge of half-time with a goal from Austrian Christoph Baumgartner from Angeliño’s pass, put himself at the gate of Europe.
Wolfsburg were lucky because in extra time in the first half they equalized with an own goal from Turkish Ozan Kabak. Hoffenheim charged the blow and Wolfsburg took advantage of it, taking the lead before the end of the game thanks to Ridle Baku to tie the lead until the end.
Oxygen for Hertha
Hertha came out of relegation by beating Cologne (2-0) at the Olympic stadium. The Ivorian Wilfried Kanga, with a header, and Marco Richter, in the second half, gave the wind to Sandro Schwarz’s team, which added its third victory on the course.
Among the last three is Bochum, penultimate, despite managing to beat Augsburg at the WWK Arena (0-1) with a goal from Ghanaian Christopher Antwi-Adjei. He managed to equalize for the local team but Mergim Berisha missed a penalty.
