Carlora Ciganda continues to fight for the Pelican Women’s Championship title. The Spanish golfer carded a 68 stroke Saturday for a total of 132 (-8) and two strokes off the lead, held by American Allisen Corpuz (-10) after the second day of competition.
Corpuz is closing out a solid debut year on the circuit and this Saturday made four birdies in a six-hole stretch midway through his second round on Saturday and had another -5 (65), giving her a one stroke lead heading into the final round of the penultimate LPGA Tour event of the year.
Just behind Corpuz sits a group of large enemies, making the one hit advantage even smaller. Sweden’s Maja Stark, who played at Oklahoma State and became a member of the LPGA Tour with success in Northern Ireland this summer, made eight birdies at Pelican Golf Club – none of the par-5s – for a 63.
Lexi Thompson and Mexican María Fassi are also one hit away, while Nelly Korda and Carlota Ciganda are two away.
Azahara Muñoz is in 58th positionten shots off the lead, while Fátima Fernández failed to make the cut.
