English Dan Bradbury, number 1,384 in the world golf ranking, got his first victory as a professional this Sunday in Johannesburg with a dominant performance from start to finish that gave him victory by three strokes over Finn Sami Valimaki.
Bradbury, 23, climb to the lead on the first day by equaling, with 63 shots, the Houghton Golf Club course record and he didn’t disappear all weekend.
It was only his third competition as a professional, but Bradbury showed great consistency despite the delays and postponements the tournament suffered from day one due to hurricanes.
Bradbury entered the final round just one shot ahead of Valimaki and both held the wrist until the final stage of the tournament, where the Englishman reached a three-stroke advantage that he kept until the end.
Valimaki finished alone in second and for third place they tied, four shots behind the winner, South Africans Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Daniel Van Tonder.
Alejandro del Rey, the only Spaniard to make the cuts to reach the final round, finished in 30th place after posting his best card of the weekend (67), which allowed him to finish seven under par for the tournament.
