Fans attending the tournament Indian Wellsin southern California, in the coming month of March they do not need to prove that they have been vaccinated against COVID-19according to the organizers.
The policy change was due to a consultation with health and industry experts, the tournament said in a statement. “The 2023 BNP Paribas Open will not require proof of vaccination against COVID-19 for fans attending the event at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden,” the statement said. “We will continue to closely monitor the pre-tournament situation and re-evaluate any rules as necessary,” the organization added.
The prestigious Masters 1000 event in the southern California desert was one of the first major sporting events to be canceled in March 2020 as the virus began to take hold in the United States.
Fans are required to show digital proof of vaccination this year, but there are no capacity restrictions and masks are not required. The tournament said it will review its indoor dining policy closer to the event, which begins with qualifying on March 6 and ends on March 19.
