Klopp: “I think the tie has been sentenced”

Date:

Jürgen Klopp, coach of Liverpool, gave the tie against Madrid “doomed” after the 2-5 first leg at Anfield. “I think Carlo thinks the tie is doomed. I think so at the moment too. In three weeks it could be different. We’ll go there to win, that’s all I can say,” said the German coach.

“We will go there and we will play a football game. It will be a big challenge but the Premier is our first and we have to make sure we learn from this game,” added Klopp.

“The way we defended in the 2-3 was not good and that didn’t help against a team that excelled on the counterattack. We didn’t get the game straight. We had to play like the first half for 90 minutes and then 2- 3 it was quite the opposite,” he lamented.

“His second goal was a slap in the face. The start was extraordinary. It was us, in a few words. It was perfect, exactly how we wanted to play. The whole first half was good, apart from the goals,” Klopp said . “They had a lot of confidence and they scored good goals for us. One from the rebound, that was it. We couldn’t get the game back on course. We had to play 95 minutes like in the first half. We had to keep the momentum, which we lost and we can’t get back,” analyzed Klopp.
