Bayern Munich and the Allianz consortium extended their sponsorship contract – which includes the use of the insurer’s name for the stadium – until 2033, the German club reported on Tuesday. The statement did not give concrete figures on the value of the agreement, but said that Bayern will receive more money than before.
“FC Bayern continuity is valued, so we are happy to extend our partnership with Allianz,” said the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Oliver Kahn, quoted in the statement. “We have a typical 20-year success story to which we want to add a new chapter,” he added.
Allianz, based in Munichis one of the world’s largest insurers and since 2005 has given its name to Bayern’s stadium, the Allianz Arena.
For nine years, in addition, Allianz had a stake of 8.33 percent in the Bayern Stock Company (Bayern AG)the same as the car manufacturer Audi and the Adidas sporting goods consortium.
The remaining 75 percent belongs to the club, which, according to the laws, must have at least 70 percent of the shares.
“Allianz is a company that operates around the world and everywhere its name is associated with our stadium,” he said. Bayern’s marketing director Andreas Jung.
“In the future, we will expand our collaboration on projects with our women’s team and the youth academy,” he added.
