Herve Renard has entered the locker room of the women’s team of France. The recent sacking of Corinne Diacre, with half of the squad against him, has opened the door for the Frenchman to a challenge he has embraced with enthusiasm after his time on the bench of the Saudi national team.
Renard’s pulse did not tremble when he wrote his first list of 26 summoned, in which he did not include Kheira Hamraoui. The former Barça player, at PSG since the summer of 2021, has recently been involved in unpleasant and controversial extra-sporting episodes, which he has not yet shaken off. And that may be the reason for Renard’s decision.
“It’s a sporting choice above all else,” argued the new ‘Bleu’ coach yesterday in a press conference. “Later, when you form a group, there are many other elements to consider,” he added. The decision may lead one to think that Hamraoui is struggling to be part of the team that will compete in the World Cup this coming summer.
