Upamecano messed it up again with an absurd penalty but Haaland saved him

Date:

Bayern Munich had extra life thanks to Haaland’s missed penalty in the 37th minute as it was 0-0 on the Allianz scoreboard. Fortunately for Dayot Upamecano, the Manchester City striker sent his shot from eleven meters into the clouds.

The penalty came from a small mistake by the Bayern centre-back. The Frenchman headed home a shot from Gundogan from outside the area and although he came out with his hands behind him, at the last moment he stretched out his left arm as his compatriot’s shot was unfortunate was slightly deflected by his hand.

Turpin did not hesitate to point the eleven-meter point and Haaland, a master of this type, opted for uncontrolled power and sent the penalty into the clouds. It was the first penalty the Nordics missed this season in eight shots.

Bayern are still chasing a comeback but Upamecano saved himself from being singled out after his disastrous performance in the first leg in Manchester, where he gave City two goals with his misses.

Apart from that, the centre-back was also lucky to start the second leg. As the last man, he brought down Haaland and Turpin showed him a direct red. However, the referee reversed his decision because the Norwegian was offside.
