“Mr. Textor has also been appointed as general manager of OL Groupe from May 5 for a temporary period, the moment to identify and appoint a new general manager”, Lyon added, specifying that Aulas was “appointed honorary president”. Aulas, 74, will remain chief executive on a three-year deal after the club is taken over.
However, disagreements quickly appeared on the sports policy that would follow the team of the ambitious American investor, who was already present in the capital of Crystal Palace (England) and Botafogo (Brazil).

Jean-Michel Aulas took control of Olympique Lyonnais in June 1987 as the team languished in the 2nd division for four years.
