The Spanish golfer Carolina López-Chacarra was declared this Wednesday the NCAA team champion with the University of Wake Forest and ensured that this great achievement was a recognition of all his efforts and work.
“I believe this success comes from all the hours of practice we put in. It’s an incredible feeling, it’s hard to explain in words,” he told the media.
“All team members add. In the end it’s impossible to win with just one player: you need five. And I think we already know how to do it,” he added.
López-Chacarra and his teammates from Wake Forest they earned the title defeating Scottsdale’s Grayhawk Golf Club (Arizona, USA) across USC.
It was the first college championship for Wake Forest.
The Spaniard emphasized that it will be a “very long week” with seven rounds and in “bad” conditions with heat, wind, departure both in the morning and in the afternoon, etc.
“In the end I think it’s hard work but it’s worth it“, he explained.
López-Chacarra also emphasized the value of competing and winning together.
“Doing it for other people, doing it for a team, drives you and inspires you.. Saying: ‘I’m here not only for myself but for my colleagues and for all the work we did,'” she argued.
Finally, the golfer pointed out that right now his priority is to finish university and get his academic degree before trying his luck on the professional circuit.
“Then I want to try to be professional, give everything there and fight to make my dreams come true. And I hope I can,” he said.
