“It’s not an easy path. First The Factory, then the dream of the first team, the experience in Lyon and back. It’s like throwing in the towel, my father didn’t instill that in me. ‘Don’t give up, fight for your dreams, nothing is impossible’. Fight even if you have to leave in the 91st minute in the game of your life. You never know when the reward will come,” he added.
Mariano remembered some words from one of his referents, Raul Gonzalez, in a review of his years at Real Madrid. “I kept in my memory some good words from Raúl in the days of my return. That was the beginning of five seasons, many difficult moments, and other very good moments. I did not enjoy the minutes I wanted, but I tried to give my soul to every ball, break my face for this team”, he said.
“I know some of my decisions are not well understood. Surely one day I will explain myself, but not now, now is the time to look to the future. I want to start a new phase, with all the ambition in the world ,” he added.
Finally, he is proud to share so much success with “everyone” of the club’s “workers, staff, physios, utileros, doctors, cleaning, security”. “It was an honor to play with my teammates and for these fans. I am eternally grateful to everyone: I fulfilled a dream and I did not give up. The 10-year-old Mariano will be proud today”, he declared
