The Spanish Cristina Bucsa raised four match points against the Russian Kamilla Rakhimova and he painted his Wimbledon debut on the green, by 6-3, 4-6 and 7-6 (9), in two hours and 46 minutes.
Bucsa, in his first match at the All England Club, lived a roller coaster where, after sharing the first two sets, he had a ‘break’ in favor twice in the third and was two points away from winning the match with 5 – 4 in favor and serve for the Russian.
Rakhimova, number 72 in the ranking, held his own and took the final set in a super tiebreaker where he took a 9-5 advantage that he wasted. The Russian squandered all four of his chances to reach the second round and searchfor the first time ever, he secured the first victory of his Wimbledon career.
