The celebration of the 142nd anniversary of La Vanguardia was the setting where the first edition of the Vanguardia Awards was held this Monday in the Oval room of the MNAC, which aims to recognize outstanding careers in all areas of society, in addition to remembering to the unique personalities who have left us. On this occasion, the figures of former IOC president Juan Antonio Samaranch, who died in 2010, and former minister Josep Piqué, who died in April, were honored in memory.
The award ceremony at the National Museum of Art of Catalonia (MNAC) was attended by the Kings, Felipe VI and Letizia, representatives of the Government, regional and local authorities and personalities from politics, business and culture, gathered by Javier Godó , Count of Godó, editor of La Vanguardia and president of the Godó Group. King Felipe and Queen Letizia wanted to recognize the journalistic work of the Godó Group and LÑa Vanguardia “from its foundation” to the digital era, in an event attended by almost 700 guests. Javier Godó, Count of Godó, editor-in-chief of La Vanguardia, emphasized in his welcome speech “the freedom, rigor and seriousness that have characterized the newspaper for three centuries.”
The winners were Sol Daurella (Cobega) and Marc Puig (Puig) as entrepreneurs of the year; the physicist Ignacio Cirac, the artist Lita Cabellut, the singer Bad Gyal and Grant Dalton, as patrons of the Copa América that will be held in Barcelona next year.
FC Barcelona is represented by its highest authority, president Joan Laporta, accompanied by vice presidents Rafael Yuste and Elena Fort and Alejandro Echevarría. The event concluded with a dinner. Mundo Deportivo is present in the person of Santi Nolla, director and CEO of MD; Cristina Cubero, deputy director; Rafa López, managing director and digital business and Sergio Fernández, marketing director.
