The IOC is closing the 139th Session, which has been postponed since February

Date:

The 139th Session of the IOC that began in February in Beijing, on the eve of the Winter Games, will complete its agenda this Friday in hybrid format -face-to-face from Lausanne and online for those unable to travel-, after restrictions arising from the pandemic were previously advised to reduce meeting days to a minimum.

Among the issues that have remained pending, and will now be addressed, are the management of the Olympic Movement, the financial report for 2021, the final accounts of Tokyo 2020 and Beijing 2022 and the state of preparation for the Paris 2024 and Milan-Cortina 2026 Games.

The war in Ukraine and its sporting consequences and the controversial re -election of Russian Umar Kremlev as head of the International Boxing Association (IBA) are current issues that are likely to come up during the Session.

As traditional, the International Olympic Committee meeting will be opened by the report of President Thomas Bach and the speech of the organization’s dean, Canadian Richard Pound, will close it.

At the end of this Session, the positions elected in February in Beijing will take effect, including those of the Spaniards. Juan Antonio Samaranch as Vice President of the IOC.
