Young Australian runner Luke Plapp, 22 years old and from Ineos Grenadiers, will strengthen the Jayco AlUla team squad in the next 4 years, so he will return to training where he turned professional at the beginning of 2022.
Plapp is considered one of the great hopes of Australian cycling, already has 2 national road champion titles and 1 time trial. In the season ending he was second overall in the UAE Tour and before that he was third in the 2022 Tour of Norway.
“We are motivated to work with him and help him grow with the team. We have a strong group of climbers in our ranks and Luke will have great support. We look forward to seeing him compete for success in stage races and time trials,” explained team manager Brent Copeland.
The British Simon Yates, the Australian Lucas Hamilton and the Irish Eddie Dunbar, will have important support within the Australian World Tour team, where sprinter Caleb Ewan also returns after 5 seasons with Lotto.
Luke Plapp appreciates his country’s team’s efforts to get him back for the 2024 season.
“I feel like I’m going home, I’m a very proud Australian and now being able to compete for Jayco It’s a real honor. I want to start. “The next four years are going to be incredible for this team,” he said.
