haas will use different details on Las Vegas Grand Prix this week to suit the wishes of its two pilots.
Kevin Magnussen will continue to use the team’s latest aerodynamic package, which it introduced in US GP in Austinwhile Nico Hulkenberg will revert to the previous Haas VF-23 specification.
Haas was the last F1 team to adopt the descending pontoon concept inspired by red bull in an effort to improve aerodynamic efficiency and reduce the tire wear issues that plagued the team.
However, with two sprint weekends in the middle of the altitude of Mexican GPHaas has yet to get a grip on the new settings.
Magnussen also suffered an accident at the start of the Brazilian GP together Alex Albon (Williams)while Hulkenberg finished 12th.
“The main reason behind this is that Nico feels that the old specifications suit him better, and Kevin is the opposite,” said Haas team principal, Guenther Steiner. “We chose to give them what they wanted, we have two races left and we are undefeated, so we tried to do our best,” he added.
“We can talk about collecting data, but we have enough data, it’s a decision based on what each driver wants more than anything else. It puts them in a comfortable position so they’re as happy as possible with the car,” he added. Steiner.
