The former Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini, who retired from soccer in December after losing the MLS final with Los Angeles FC (LAFC) against the Columbus Crew, will return to the Los Angeles team as head of player development for the first team, as reported Tuesday of the American club.
Chiellini, 39 years old, will work with head coach Steve Cherundolo, LAFC featured in a statement.

The new MLS season begins on February 21.
