The Colombian Adrià Soriano was able to defeat his opponent this Saturday Luxembourg, Alex Knaffnumber 500 in the ATP rankings, with shares of 6-3 and 7-6, thus ensuring progress to the 2024 Davis Cup stage.
The Colombians came out to play this Saturday with the feeling that the tie had slipped away from them after Friday’s match day, and they lost on aggregate 0-2.
But the victory of the duo of Nicolás Barrientos and Cristian Rodríguez in doubles and the victory of Nicolás Mejía made the score equal at 2-2.
While Soriano and Rodesch played in the fifth and final game in which the Colombian earned a spot in World Group I of the 2024 Davis Cup.
Colombia’s match against Luxembourg is one of 12 World Group I play-off series played this weekend in the Davis Cup.
The winners of these qualifiers will qualify for the World Group I round in September 2024; while the losers will be thrown into World Group II.
